Do you love crafts?  Have you ever made anything and had people ask you how you did that?  Do you enjoy meeting new people that share your interests?  Have you always wanted a way to make money from your craft?  Then chances are you are a candidate to join the teaching staff at the Heart and Hands Craft and Sewing Studio.

In this mobile society, no longer can we count on family to teach us the skills to quilt, sew, knit, crochet, paint, etc.  Rubber stamping, beading, polymer clay and scrap booking have also gained a large following and chances are you have been asked to share your skill with others.

Heart and Hands Craft and Sewing Studio is designed to bring crafter and student together, in a fun learning environment.  We supply the location, utilities, advertising, guidance and insurance.  You set your course description, price, and minimum and maximum number of students.  You have sole control over class content (assuming of course no copyright laws are broken).   We collect the class fee and take a small percentage for our services and you receive a check when the class concludes.  If you provide a kit for your class, you collect and keep those fees.  We can even help you obtain items wholesale for some classes.  We can help you with all aspects of teaching and set you on a new and rewarding career in teaching.  Of course, we always welcome experienced teachers!

We are truly interested in crafts of all types, to include but not limited to:  sewing, quilting, basket weaving, beading, cross-stitch, crochet, embroidery, smocking, knitting, leather, flower arranging, painting, tole painting, doll making, tatting, needlepoint, paper crafts, silk ribbon embroidery, latch hook, upholstery, pattern drafting, alterations and computer craft programs.  Any and all are eligible, but due to insurance restraints, we will not offer woodworking or candle making or any other our friendly Insurance Agent Lisa would frown upon!

Ideas of the types of classes are:  Learn How to _________; Complete a __________ in 3 to 4 hours; Make a New __________ and use it tonight; Craft a __________ for your holiday decorating.  Well you get the idea :)  Classes may span weeks, or several sessions, or can be completed in one class.  You are the teacher, you decided!

We offer morning, afternoon and evening hours so you can teach around your schedule!  Being working wives ourselves we realize not everyone can teach a Saturday or daytime class.  We offer total flexibility to our teachers and students.

Interested?  Fill out our Teacher Application.   We will then contact you for additional information.  Our studio is located at 327 Ellicott Street, Batavia NY 14020 (opening to students early Jan 05).  You must be able to attend one of our teacher orientations in December; exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis.

Teachers are not born, they are made by a love of their craft.
